Mangrove Planting & Financial Literacy with Chubb General and Chubb Syariah
On 22 October 2024, PT Chubb General Insurance Indonesia (“Chubb General”) and PT Asuransi Chubb Syariah Indonesia (“Chubb Syariah”) successfully conducted a Mangrove Planting and Financial Literacy activity at KSS Beach, Sukawali Village, Tangerang. In this event, members of the Board of Directors, along with 25 volunteers composed of Chubb employees, attended and actively participated in the activity.
This activity is a manifestation of our support for the local community as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility. Furthermore, the aim of this initiative is to raise awareness among the public about the importance of responsible financial management and environmental preservation efforts through the mangrove planting action, which is expected to have a positive impact on residents in coastal areas.
In the financial literacy program, volunteers provided educational on financial management to the local residents, most of whom are fishermen. This education covered how to manage income and expenses, the importance of saving, and the benefits of insurance to protect their finances in the future. Additionally, the volunteers presented various Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) activities that could be pursued to attract domestic tourists to the KSS Beach area. It is hoped that this will help increase income sources and improve the welfare of the residents around KSS Beach.
Meanwhile, at the mangrove planting location, a total of 500 mangrove seedlings were planted along the KSS coastline. The purpose of this planting is to prevent abrasion, maintain the balance of the coastal ecosystem, and provide habitat for various marine species. This activity is not only beneficial for the environment but also expected to increase public awareness of the importance of preserving nature for the sustainability of life in coastal areas. In carrying out this initiative, we collaborated with LindungiHutan.
We hope this initiative will enable Chubb to raise awareness and understanding among the Indonesian population about the importance of responsible financial management, insurance, and environmental preservation.
Regional Day of Service
Since 2012, the Regional Day of Service has become an annual routine activity embraced by all employees across the Asia Pacific region to foster relationships with community through various community activities. This initiative aligns with Chubb's commitment to expanding its philanthropic reach by enhancing education and health, reduce poverty, and promoting environmental sustainability. The activities involve countries within the Asia Pacific region, including Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. Each year, more than 800 employees across the Asia Pacific actively participate in organizing these volunteering programs.
2023 – On 16 November 2023, 40 volunteers from Chubb Indonesia, consisting of PT Chubb General Insurance Indonesia (“Chubb General”), PT Chubb Life Insurance Indonesia (“Chubb Life”), and PT Asuransi Chubb Syariah Indonesia (“Chubb Syariah”), once again made a positive contribution to communities in need. This time, the activity was conducted in Lenggahsari Village, Cabang Bungin District, Bekasi Regency, West Java, focusing on education and public facilities for the local residents. The support provided by Chubb Indonesia was realized through the collective efforts of the volunteers in renovating a kindergarten school and improving public facilities around that school environment. The activities included repairing the walls and ceilings of the school area, renovating public facilities nearby (such as cleaning toilets, constructing a new well for clean water supply, and installing new water pumps), cleaning the school surroundings, restoring a children's playground, as well as conducting workshops on waste sorting and basic insurance for the students' guardians. We hope that this small contribution can provide benefits and have a significant impact on advancing education and inspiring them to pursue their dreams.
2022 – On 9 November 2022, after being held virtually for two years, this year's Regional Day of Service successfully took place in person. A total of 45 volunteers from Chubb Life, Chubb General, and Chubb Syariah collaborated for Regional Day of Service 2022 at SOS Children's Villages Jakarta. Continuing with the theme Education@Heart, Chubb Indonesia donated essential items to support the growth and well-being of the community, including the provision of a water machines, food nutrition, as well as organic and inorganic trash bins for 80 children, 15 caregivers, and 15 homes. A series of fun and interactive learning sessions were also organized to enhance the engagement between volunteers and the local community by providing education on food nutrition and waste management, followed by trash bin decoration and a cooking competition involving the caregiver.
2021 – On 12 November 2021, the Regional Day of Service program continued from previous initiatives focused on supporting the SOS Children's Village community. This activity was conducted virtually amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 33 volunteers from Chubb Indonesia, comprising employees from Chubb General, Chubb Life, and Chubb Syariah, were divided into 12 groups that reached out to children and caregivers from three different SOS locations in Indonesia: Cibubur (East Jakarta), Semarang (Central Java) and Bali. This year, we conducted several fun science experiments such as balloon popping, magic gloves, and secret messages. Meanwhile, for the caregivers, we held an exciting fruit salad making competition. Additionally, Chubb Indonesia provided support in the form of health care and medical needs, including medications, vitamins, and supplements, as well as health checks-ups, dental examinations, and emergency medical support (including costs for self-isolation) for 122 children and 18 caregivers at SOS Children's Village for one year.
2020 – On 6 November 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Regional Days of Service was still held, although conducted virtually. A series of interactive and educational activities were carried out for 190 children and 55 caregivers from SOS Children's Villages Indonesia, located in three different areas in Indonesia: Cibubur (East Jakarta), Flores (East Nusa Tenggara), and Meulaboh (Aceh). A total of 35 volunteers from Chubb General, Chubb Life, and Chubb Syariah participated enthusiastically in this virtual event, divided into several volunteer groups. Each group prepared a short presentation and created video tutorials on environmental science experiments and volcanoes for elementary school children. They also presented on entrepreneurship and conducted a DIY (Do It Yourself) Tie Dye experiments on t-shirts that was engaging for junior high school students. Additionally, they delivered brief presentations on adolescent psychology, communication, and sex education, followed by sharing session that benefited the caregivers. Furthermore, we also provided support in the form of infrastructure to facilitate remote learning in the SOS Jakarta/Bogor area.
2019 – On 5 November 2019, Chubb Indonesia sent 75 volunteers comprising employees from Chubb General, Chubb Life, and Chubb Syariah to carry out the Regional Day of Service at SOS Children's Villages in Indonesia. During this visit, the volunteers participated in various activities, including renovating bathrooms, conducting coloring workshops for preschool and elementary school children, providing digital literacy training for elementary school students, introducing financial institutions to middle school children, and presenting careers related to insurance to high school student. In addition to activities for the children, Chubb Indonesia also offered stress management training for the caregivers. We hope that these activities can support the well-being and development of both the children and the caregivers at SOS Children's Villages.
2018 – On 8 November 2018, to enhance the positive impact of the Regional Day of Service in the Asia Pacific region, all volunteers from Chubb Indonesia, comprising employees from Chubb General, Chubb Life, and Chubb Syariah, came together for a collective effort under the theme Education@Heart. Approximately 50 volunteers visited the SDN Kedung Dalam 1 & 2 schools in Kidoso Village, Mauk, Tangerang. During the visit, the volunteers organized various educational activities aimed at developing both the students' psychomotor and cognitive skills, ranging from storytelling to learning about planets and the solar system, as well as financial literacy through a bank simulation activity that taught the importance of saving for the future.
2017 – On 9 November 2017, Chubb Indonesia held the Regional Day of Service in Kidoso Village, Mauk, Tangerang. This marked the first time that Chubb Syariah participated in the annual routine event, which had previously been conducted by Chubb General and Chubb Life in Indonesia since 2012. A total of 60 employees, comprising staff from Chubb General, Chubb Life, and Chubb Syariah, participated in building three homes for the residents of Mauk. This effort is a concrete expression of our commitment to the local community. In carrying out this initiative, Chubb Indonesia collaborated with Habitat for Humanity Indonesia.
Blood Donor Activity
On Thursday 7 April 2016, employees of PT Asuransi Chubb Syariah Indonesia participated donating blood as a form of support to the ‘Ayo Donor Darah’ CSR event held by VIP Honda Card (our Personal Accident Insurance partner for VIP Honda Card members) that took place at PT Wahana Kalyanamitra Mahardhika’s office in Jakarta.
